A bit more about me....................
Hi, I am Alison, based in Beal near Selby, bang on the borders of North, South, East and West Yorkshire with easy access to the main northern motorways.
My love for animals, in particular horses started around the age of ten when we were lucky enough to move to a house with some land. In a short space of time we had quite a menagerie going on with rabbits, cats, guinea pigs, sheep, dogs and then my first pony arrived on the scene not long after. Over the years I progressed from the gymkhanas to local show jumping then onto national show jumping and some one day eventing. Other than my first schoolmaster who taught me to ride all of my other ponies and horses were brought on by me, not only were they a lot of fun but gave me some reasonable success and I was lucky enough to qualify for a novice class the horse of the year show.
I gave up horses to move to Norfolk to be with my husband and then a family followed not long after. Although have not ridden for a lot of years now, the love for them never went away. Once they are in your heart they do remain there forever.
Photography has always been something I was interested in, it has grown with me over the years from the simple need to record my horses and then my children growing up which then turned into an addictive hobby. I cannot envisage my life without a camera and I definitely prefer being at the controls of it.
To me photography is about capturing that moment, a moment in time that can be revisited for years to come, a moment that makes you smile, or makes you cry, or makes you proud, or all three!
Aside from the photography, I share a busy life with my husband, I'm mum to our two grown up children and grandma to two little boys . I am a true Sagittarius, always excited about life and new adventures, a bit of a free spirit who enjoys the simple things in life and the beauty that surrounds us. As well as being an animal lover, I am also a closet petrol head, I have a passion for most things that are fuel powered, nice cars, fast jets and bikes, a trait that I must have inherited from my Dad who used to ride in the Isle of Man TT.
When I don't have my camera in hand I enjoy pottering in my garden, growing flowers and vegetables and drinking lots of Yorkshire tea.
